What Shubman Gill Said On Playing Against Hardik Pandya In GT vs MI IPL 2024 Clash

Hardik Pandya returned to Ahmedabad as Mumbai Indians faced Gujarat Titans, the franchise he led for two seasons, before returning to his old team. After Hardik decided to move to Mumbai, Gujarat promoted Shubman Gill as the team captain. However, on Sunday, Gill and Hardik met again when MI traveled to Ahmedabad for their opening game of the season against GT. Given how the dynamics of the IPL have changed, Gill admitted that the two going head-to-head with Hardik at the Narendra Modi Stadium is going to be exciting.

Before the match, Gill talked about his admiration for some of India's best captains. Although the top-order batsman has not played under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, he has praised the wicketkeeper batsman the most as a leader.

“I have not played under Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni), but as a kid watching him think about things on the field, he is my inspiration,” the opening batsman said.

Virat Kohli is also someone whom Gill has respected, but it is Rohit Sharma under whom he has played the majority of his Team India career.

“I have also played under Virat (Kohli) bhai, but I have played most of my cricket under Rohit (Sharma) bhai and there are a lot of qualities that I will personally learn from him,” the 24-year-old said. ,

“It's amazing to play against Mumbai Indians, who have won the title five times. But playing them in Ahmedabad, we haven't lost a single match here against MI, so hopefully we can continue that trend,” he said.

When it comes to Hardik, under whom Gill has played for both the Indian team and Gujarat Titans, it will be exciting to face the all-rounder-led Mumbai team.

“It's going to be exciting. Hardik (Pandya) bhai is someone under whom I have played for the Indian team as well as in GT. So it's going to be exciting and great,” Gill said.

“Hopefully we'll have 110,000 people cheering for us and it doesn't get any better than that,” he said.
