WhatsApp Now Lets Users Pin Multiple Messages in Chats: How to Use Feature

Mar25,2024

WhatsApp introduced the feature of pinning messages in individual and group chats in December 2023. Pinned messages will appear at the top of the chat, just below the person or group's name and image. However, users can pin only a single message in a chat. Earlier this month, it was reported that WhatsApp is testing a feature that allows users to pin multiple messages within a single chat. Now, the Meta-owned social messaging platform has officially announced the feature.

WhatsApp now allows users to pin up to three messages within a single chat, the company has confirmed through its official WhatsApp channels and other social media handles. Pinned messages stay at the top of individual or group chats as a banner. Tapping on said banner will take users to the pinned message in the chat.

When more than one message is pinned in a chat, the banner shows the number of pinned messages and a preview of the latest pin. In this case, clicking on the banner shows all pinned messages. From there, users can navigate to the pinned message of their choice. Users can also choose the duration for which a message is pinned. They have three options – 24 hours, 7 days and 30 days.

WhatsApp has also revealed how users can pin a message. Android users can tap and hold a particular message, select the three dots on the top right corner and then pin > Select PIN duration > pin, On iOS, users can tap and hold a message and then click more options , pin > Select PIN duration. Web and desktop app users should select the down arrow button next to a message, which appears when the cursor hovers over it, and select pin message > Select PIN duration > pin,

The Meta-owned instant messaging platform was recently reported to be working on a feature to transcribe voice notes. It is also reportedly working on an AI-supported image editor within the application.
