Which Team Should Rohit Sharma Join If He Decides To Leave Mumbai Indians After IPL 2024?

There is a lot of speculation about Rohit Sharma's future after IPL 2024 after the star India batsman was removed as the captain of Mumbai Indians. Ahead of the new season, his ten-year tenure as MI captain unceremoniously ended as he was replaced by Hardik Pandya after the all-rounder completed a sensational trade from Gujarat Titans. Since then, rumors have been flying that Rohit will potentially leave the franchise at the end of IPL 2024 and this could result in some exciting partnerships for all the cricket fans. With no official confirmation on Rohit's future, here is a look at how each franchise could suit the Indian cricket team captain if he decides to leave MI –

Chennai Super Kings

One franchise that is being considered as Rohit's next destination in the IPL is Chennai Super Kings. However, with Ruturaj Gaikwad opening the batting along with Devon Conway and the franchise having also bought Rachin Ravindra for IPL 2024, Rohit's inclusion might pose a bit of a problem for the team. In that case, the team management may consider using Rohit as a middle-order option or even a proper power-hitter. Secondly, with Ruturaj recently replacing MS Dhoni as captain and the team looking at him as a long-term option, it is highly unlikely that Rohit will be considered for the captaincy.

Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR have struggled a lot to find a stable opening partnership in the last few seasons and with the addition of Rohit Sharma, the team management may finally have a solution. The partnership with Phil Salt will give Rohit a chance to play his natural game and with Shreyas Iyer struggling as a batsman as well as a captain, the experienced star could easily become the captaincy choice for the franchise. Rohit will continue as captain and Gautam Gambhir as team mentor – a duo who can create havoc in the IPL.

Gujarat Titans

There would hardly be any cricket fan who would not want to see Rohit and Shubman Gill opening and this would also solve a major drawback of the GT batting system. But, once again captaincy could be an issue as Gill is a young captain who recently replaced Hardik and the franchise may want to stick with him.

Lucknow Super Giants

Rohit joining LSG could indeed be big news for KL Rahul. With an experienced opener like Rohit at the top of the order, Rahul may finally get the freedom to bat lower down the order and provide more support to the middle order. When it comes to captaincy, there is a possibility that LSG may go with Rohit as their choice and Rahul will learn from him and take over the post once again in the future.

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals are in a very good position on paper and have a strong opening three with Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson, the arrival of Rohit could create more problems for the team. Add to this the support that RR has consistently shown to Sanju as their leader and Rohit's move to RR could create a tricky situation for both the player and the team.

Delhi Capitals

Rohit fits perfectly into a DC team that has struggled to find a good opening partnership in recent times. With an experienced campaigner like David Warner or a talent like Prithvi Shaw, Rohit will provide a huge boost to the franchise when it comes to batting. However, it is very unlikely that DC would want to replace Rishabh Pant as their captaincy and captaincy does not seem possible for Rohit.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Another franchise that will massively benefit from Rohit's inclusion as a proper opening option. The experienced batsman can form a dangerous partnership with Travis Head at the top of the batting order, with Abhishek Sharma making the middle order even more dangerous. A lot will depend on how Pat Cummins leads the team in IPL 2024 but there is a possibility that Rohit may be handed the captaincy.

punjab kings

An explosive batsman, an experienced captain and a reunion with Shikhar Dhawan – what more could the Punjab Kings need? The franchise has been struggling to find form in the competition of late and although they have the ability to take matches close, it usually ends with a narrow defeat. Rohit could be the X-factor that will change their behavior and eventually turn them into title contenders.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the same IPL team – a sentence powerful enough to excite any cricket fan. Since RCB have not won a title in 16 years, the inclusion of jointly the most famous captain in the competition could be the boost they need. Rohit fits perfectly into the batting order and Virat Kohli finally gets a chance to bat at No. 3 and may even replace Faf du Plessis as captain.
