Who is Aditya Srivastava, UPSC Civil Services Topper 2023?


New Delhi: Aditya SrivastavaA young man from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the topper of the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination 2023. The results were declared on 16 April, which is the culmination of her dedicated efforts.
Srivastava's educational journey is impressive. He completed his schooling at the Aliganj branch of CMS Lucknow, reportedly excelling in his 12th class examination with 95% marks. This academic prowess continued at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur), where he pursued a dual B.Tech and M. .Tech degree, potentially earning a gold medal (more details awaited for specific confirmation on gold medal).

After his time at IIT, Srivastava reportedly spent 15 months working at Goldman Sachs. However, this experience appears to have sparked a desire to contribute to society on a more fundamental level. In an interview, Srivastava expressed his desire to work at the grassroots level and “uplift the system”.
Motivations for choosing the civil services path
Srivastava's decision to pursue a career in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) was not an impulsive one. In a YouTube mock interview, he candidly explained how his initial focus was on financial security, which led him to his corporate role. However, he realized that money was not the ultimate motivator. In his eyes, the civil services presented an opportunity to “contribute positively to the system” and “make an impact at the grassroots level”. The ability to innovate within a framework further appealed to him.
Srivastava's story is an inspiration for aspiring civil servants. His academic brilliance, coupled with his desire to bring about positive change, makes him a worthy recipient of the prestigious top rank. Aditya Srivastava's achievement is even more remarkable considering his prior efforts civil services exam, He got 236th rank in UPSC CSE 2022 and chose Indian Police Service (IPS). Currently, he is undergoing training at the National Police Academy in Hyderabad.
