West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph, who single-handedly won the Test match against Australia last month, was on Saturday included in the team of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in place of England's Mark Wood for the upcoming IPL season. The 24-year-old Joseph demolished a star-studded Australian batting line-up with figures of 7 for 68 in the second innings, helping West Indies seal a famous win at the Gabba, Brisbane last month. The most sought after fast bowler in the world.

He will join LSG for Rs 3 crore and this will be Joseph's first stint in the IPL.

“Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have named Shamar Joseph as replacement for fast bowler Mark Wood for the upcoming edition of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024,” the IPL said in a statement.

“Joseph will join LSG for Rs 3 crore. The fast bowler was at the forefront during West Indies' recent Test win at the Gabba. He took 7 wickets in the second innings to seal a historic win for West Indies in Australia.” This development could mean that Wood will not be available for IPL 2024, although the reason is not known. He is currently with the England team which is touring India for a five-match Test series.
