‘You are far more likely to be mugged in London than in Delhi’, Indian biz execs tell UK shadow foreign secretary

LONDON: India's business officials claim it is safer to visit Delhi than London, where “you are more likely to be scammed”, and are warning them against visiting due to rising thefts of luxury watches in posh parts of the British capital. Are shying away.

You don't want to go to a city where you're likely to be mugged on the streets. It doesn't make you feel comfortable. You can walk anywhere in Delhi and you will not be cheated,” Narang said.
He said he understood that attacks were frequent in Mayfair, citing cases of expensive bags being stolen from people on the street or watches being cut from their wrists.
Lammy said many other Indians had also raised concerns about looting and theft in London during his three-day visit.
More than 300 luxury watches were stolen in the boroughs of Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea between April and September 2022 and Blacksmith And Fulham. Soho, Mayfair and the southern part of Kensington and Chelsea account for 40% of all watch robberies in London.
The Met Police are launching an undercover operation to target robbery hotspots, with undercover officers posing as members of the public wearing luxury watches to catch thieves red-handed.
